Medison's forum closed

After the hacks or whatever it was, Valdi has decided to close down their forums, efficiently closing down the last option for contact with the company for buyers since they don't have any phone numbers or replies to any e-mail, or have a valid post address. It all ended with this message:

"Dear members of this group, The Medison Celebrity group has been hacked by one or more people. These people have been registring an account appearing to be the same as my hotmail address and have been posting threats in this group.
This group was started as a service to our members, customers and other people who wanted to discuss the Medison Celebrity laptop. Several topics who have not been about the Medison Celebrity laptop have been deleted over the time. Now, when the group has been hacked, and false information and threats are being spread out in my name, we decide to close down the serivce.
We can today not say if we will offer the same kind of service in the future, even if we would like to. In one way or another we still want to be open minded about giving this service to our customers.
We are regretful to do this, but we see no other solution at the moment. We do not want bad people to stop us from doing business and other people from buying a Medison Celebrity laptop.

Sincerely,
Valdi Ivancic
CEO & President
Medison Europe Limited"

His message is fair, especially in the light of the events that happened early today.

However how is he going to communicate with his customers now.

His phone lines are "temporarly" closed for too long now, no replies to email, no press releases, no interviews, no updates on the site, no forum.

Basically it's a black hole now.

More as in, orders and questions fly into it, but nothing comes out (neither laptops nor answers).

I do believe we'll not hear anything from Valdi anymore.

It's also possible this was some theater to find reason to close the forum down, although I would believe just as well the hacked account version.

2CO will silently issue refunds two weeks from now, the site will be down, and that's it.

Ah, sad. Feels like when the olympic games are over. And you don't know what to do for a couple of days ... ;-)

But, I do not think that Valdi and his wood dolls will be able to blend in totally silent (in Sweden at least). We will hear something about them ...

No refunds need to be issued because nothing has been charged. Nobody has been charged anything yet and they never will be unless they receive a laptop that meets the promised specifications.

I think Tommy Truthseeker just has a problem with Valdi or is working for a manufacturer to help disseminate negative information, thus creating a self fulfilling prophecy. Is there any proof that he doesn't? What makes him more credible than Valdi? Just because his information is more private than Valdi's doesn't mean "truthseeker" is any more credible. But if it makes you all feel good ...

What does it hurt for this guy to try to sell this laptop? Who gets hurt if they don't get delivered? Nobody but Valdi. The potential customers won't be hurt, a fact that has been stated numerous times by 2C0.

I look at it like the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, it doesn't cost to play, it doesn't hurt anyone else, and if it pays off, cool. If it doesn't, it doesn't, no big deal.

Except the PCH is clearly advertized as a lottery where what you enter for is a *chance* to win. In this case this is presented as a straightforward business deal, where you contract for a latop, not a chance to win a lottery :)
As such, the deal has been suspect from the start because of, frankly, an unrealistically low price, compounded by very confusing information, and bears close watching.

There are for me four main reasons why I am hunting for the truth behind Medison and Valdi.

1. I hate when people are taking advantage playing on weak people’s ignorance and trust. A 150 USD computer will be bought by people who are less wealthy.

2. I do not like when people try scams/whatever and when it like this slips through media without any decent investigations.

3. I admit that I find this like a satisfying "game" where we are hunting something we "know" is there but that others do not see.

4. Everything around Medison / Valdi is so strange that even with a normally good imagination I can’t foresee what will happen the next hour (or why)...

Tommy, we finally have our first true conspiracy theory. Congratulations, the blog's audience has grown a lot, apparently.

For me the main reason to still hunt information about Valdi and medison is to teach the media a lesson. Several major newspapers in Sweden published medison's info without doing any kind of research or even basic sanity-checks.

What Tommy in doing is good journalism.

What Tommy in doing is yellow journalism.

Very annoying because this means my English translations of the Swedish newspaper articles are lost... did anyone save copies of them??

Please post them to cint board or mail to Tommy Truthseeker

Medison has received a lot of good press from mainstream media who just took their information on faith without doubting of checking the facts. It's good that someone wants to dig deeper, whatever one may think of the style.

Orly. So where are the photos of Valdi in underwear? Wait, let's not get into this.

Medison came forward with nonsense and claiming what the top businesses in the industry couldn't dream to achieve. Only to find out everything they say is a lie.

They deserve closer inspection and they're getting it.

No one ever cared about Valdi's problems before Medison Celebrity.

Valdi is just intelligently insane. Tommy is a hero in my opinion. I was very close to purchasing one after reading a too uncritical article on C-NET but was careful enough to seek more information.
I'm sure many went through the purchase process.
By the way, another weird thing...what is this music video about? http://www.medison.se/eissoai.html
It shows when I click on the Medison icon on the http://www.medison.se/ page.
It's a video from Myspace: http://lads.myspace.com/videos/vplayer.swf?u=YUhSMGNEb3ZMMk52Ym5SbGJuUXViVzkyYVdWekxtTmtiaTV0ZVhOd1lXTmxMbU52YlM4d01EQTJOelExTHpnMUx6UXhMelkzTkRVME1UUTFPQzVtYkhZPQ==&d=316
Weird...everything is weird about this Medison thing...

- It is most likely Valdi himself that made the song, plays it, sings (all voices) AND is cheering at the end... I am not sure if he was behind the camera as well but my guess is that he did that to…

In case someone still doubts: this kind of pointless sarcasm comments are officially pointless now.

One could say they even contributed to the closing of the Yahoo forum.

I suggest we keep things tight, enough with the silly unprovoked jokes.

- Hm, what do you know about the closing of the Yahoo forum?
Was it not due to a hacker?

It makes me sick that you can think its ok to cheat people and give them false hopes. I truely think that there are people who has ordered this computer and really would need it.
How would you feel if the girl you like promises you sex tonight and one hour before regrets, how would you feel then??? I would guess it makes you angry. Just a guess...

If for you sex=computer, you need to unplug man...and get a life offline :)

but how would you feel if she said... oh baby I wanna do it but it's my first time... we need to slow down...

Here is a better analogy for you. Let's say you get up the day after Thanksgiving and go wait in line at Best Buy to buy a laptop for $150.00. You know there are limited quantities, but you go anyways. A half an hour before the doors open the store worker runs out of the slips for the laptop before he gets to you. Are you upset? yes but you get over it. all you wasted was a little sleep and a little time. no money was lost, nobody was cheated.

How about if there is no laptop at all? Best Buy cheated everyone and you lost your time and your hope.

Guys, no analogies are needed. We are quite capable of grasping what this is about.

I want a car analogy.

What if.. your car.. sold laptops? And errr... it made them cheap, but your car has very poor webdesign skills, and can't make computers?

Damn it, I suck at analogies.

Is there ANY reason for Valdi not to set up NEW forum? Matter of minutes. He's slither!!! AT ALL FRONTS. EVERYWHERE HE HAVE A PROBLEM. problem child

Anonymous said...

vlad, do you honestly think he wants more publicity.

if I were him I'd do the ssme (except I'd also cancel all orders and do a press release that it won't happen and that's it).

What if someone wrote in his C.V. that he expected the car he was going to build would run at 300,000 MPH and would cost only 150 bucks. After all, Fords cars are so expensive because of their enourmous profit margins.
Would you think he was a genious entrepeneur, or just another nut?
