More on United Keys

The folks over at the opimus_project blog (by the people making the Optimus-keyboards) has posted a really interesting article about earlier display keyboards, and their respective patents. Seems like it had been going on for quite a while before Valdi got his "brilliant" and "unique" idea...
Anyway, they also noticed and link to my latest post with a really interesting discovery; the keyboard visualized over at United Keys site is only a photoshop work of a Microsoft keyboard.

They couldn't even come up with an original idea! Just use an existing product and say that it's yours, just like with the Celebrity.

The two other products on the Unitedkeys web site front page:

The remote controller is a modified drawing of a Logitech Harmony remote.

The mobile phone is a modified drawing of a Motorola Razr mobile phone.

But to use designs and products from other companies (Clevo, Microsoft, Motorola, Apple, Logitech...?) is nothing unusual in the world of Valdi.

I'm sure it's much more cost-effective to just license from Microsoft, rather than set up all of the logistics to manufacture the keyboard on their own. The company I work for licenses software from other companies, and does a re-badge. It's faster and cheaper in most cases.

Tommy TruthSeeker said...

Well, the problem is that the products doesn't exist, It's just "design examples". I bet that they don't have the right to use those designs without proper notification. The keyboard was just an example, but as peter says, it's the same with the other products too. The image of the game controller is a Xbox 360-controller with logo and everything.

Yes, there is just no way Microsoft, Logitech or Motorola would ever accept their designs being so obviously copied.
I'm not sure if it is Valdi himself using Photoshop or someone else made the drawings, but any professional industrial designer with respect for himself would laugh and walk away if he was assigned a job of taking a Microsoft based 2D rendering to touch it up with some "Unitedkeys" ideas. Any commmon sense would tell the designer that a lawsuit would be the first reaction from the company who owns the design - when the product hits the market some day.

It's just ridiculously unprofessional.

Intresting Tommy!
Thx for yor efford!

I wonder if Valdi is starting to give up ... I don't think there will be much trust left ...

Does anyone know where he lives ... it would be interesting to hear about some "Valdi sightings". I wonder where the guy gets his money ... maybe he is back driving a truck again ...

Ha ha looser Valdi .... It seems like a major failor again .... when will you learn that you are NOT a businessman ... u can go step-by-step but it will not change anything ... Your "make-belive" company is goooooone ....

Anonymous said...

hi again ... there are som changes on the medison.se page ...

It seems like the sales guy didn't like his name on the Medison page (wise selection) ... and one other guy is gone ... now it is soon only Valdi's cousin left ...

But Valdi has hired a new guy (probably only in his fantasy) that is the VP of South and Latin America ... wow ... he most make a looooooot of money ....

I think when a major company like Medison loses their VP Sales they should do a press release ....

Anonymous said...

Medison never deserved all the attention they got. Thanks to some very naive technical journalists seeking to be the first writing about the "next big thing" a lot of people got fooled to believe it had a chance.
2CO and the people who joined with Valdi probably just hoped to be part of the world's cheapest laptop firm without really having much insight into the business to judge how stupid it really was.

The next $150 laptop. Whoop yourselves into a frenzy over this one!

Anonymous said...

Once again, thank you for keeping us all informed, I keep coming back here once in while to find out what next in Valdis crazy plans...

Anonymous said...

Any news guys??

Its been a while since a major post.

Anonymous said...

You cynical people! But we'll see who gets the last laugh when I get my Medison laptop!

Anonymous said...

I believe you already have one, the one without serial number!

Pete

Anonymous said...

I would assume at this point even the most extreme (=naive) Medison believers have lost their faith.

Did Valdi find some other job at this point or is he still relying on the income of his wife; like he did when he was living in Brazil?

Medison Celebrity Laptop

Medison will start delivering the Medison Celebrity laptop during 2008.
[more to come]

Anonymous said...

Yeah...2008...or 2009...or 2010...but who cares?

Anybody who knows about this and had a sincere interest in purchasing the Medison Celebrity laptop has probably found something else instead. I have bought 2 laptops (Macbook Air and Compaq) since Medison advertised the Medison Celebrity and certainly don't need some illusionary low performance and low reliability "laptop" at this point.

It would be nice if some psychologist could make a diagnosis of what we seen of Valdi so far.:)

I am pretty certain that he is realy sick and needs to be put away somewhere...

:D

Anonymous said...

At first when it looked like he was trying to get away with people’s money I could understand something about him
but past six month or so with only imaginary updates on his web………

He must be really ill

Pete

Anonymous said...

Certainly Valdi is an interesting case of unique personality traits. It's simply too easy to call him ill. But I would say that he absolutely doesn't seem to have much conscientiousness. Also Valdi might think that the "step by step approach" can build a manned rocket to Mars with no budget and no actual experience; but think about this...most of the world's population have other serious flawed beliefs, e.g. if any single religion is the right one, then most people on this planet are wrong in their beliefs. Valdi is not ill...and his idea of a low cost laptop business was not at all a bad idea when there is a demand for it and the traditional laptop brands keep going with their high profit business model partnering with Microsoft.

Valdi just needs to learn how to adjust his ambitions to his actual skills. But being ambitious is not a bad trait! I hope Valdi is not ending up with no income because he got stuck in believing that he needs a job as Swedish prime minister, president of the lowest cost laptop firm etc.

The one Medison laptop ever "made" is used by Valdi and his wife. He uses it while looking for a real job and she is finding cooking recipes on it. Their child is still too young to use it. It still works fine even after almost 9 months of use!

Dear Peter Truthseeker,

I have followed your blog since its beginning. Don't you think it's time to close it?

We all know by now, that also this Valdi Project was a non-starter.

Therefore, may I suggest that you write a final obituary notice on this project before you close down completely.

A terrific start on your blog should at least have a reasonable ending. I hope you agree.

There is no more news on this subject as far as I can see.

I would also like to suggest that you now write a time limited final notice to your readers and remaining fans, incl. myself.

Enough is enough.

Don't be as persistent as Valdi! You have, indeed, proven what you wanted to prove.

Thank you for all your work.

SVEN

I don't agree with Sven ...

Let this continue to be a Valdi blog ...

A person like Valdi will always be a scammer ... Given his history (just read this blog from beginning to end) proves that he will come back with new crazy ideas ...

I think it is good that we (this blog) keep track of him to help society to get fooled from such a BS:er, scam artist, and pathological lier ...

Anonymous said...

Absolutely agree marketer, there is no reason to assume this history is completely over or it could not happen again.
And just take a look at the web site "Latest News" and you will find this:

Medison will start delivering the Medison Celebrity laptop during 2008.

When Valdi stop's paying for the medison.com web site and it gets shut down then I will think it might be time to shut down this blog.

Sorry! The Display Keyboarfd may be on its way in the near future. There's already a U.S. patent for the Display Keyboard held by Mr. Elkin Acevedo. The invention is much older than Levedev's invention and Elkin's keyboard is exactly the same as the Optimus Keyboard. Also, the patent is much older than United Keys patents. Lebedev’s U.S. patents are non-existent. As far as I know the Display Keyboard is being developed here in the United States.

This is the Website of the Display Keyboard if you have any questions:

Also, take a look at this link:

Hello. I'm TRUE Valdi Ivancic and this is my FIRST ever post here. I would like to inform everyone that we finally start delivering Celebrity on May 6th. First customers will have it during next week.
Kind regards,
Valdi Ivancic

Whatever Valdi :-)

The only interesting thing about Medison is the psychology of how easy it is to fool people.

It would be interesting to analyze how people who believed in this Medison thing also believe in ghosts, prayers, strange conspiracy theories, Noah's ark, Adam & Eve, UFOs etc.

Some people just believe in everything they hear...

Looks like Valdi got a new job back in Brazil.
CEO of the mysteries company Atalho.

If I remember right, Jorge Farsetti who now is Medison VP South/Latin America previuslly had the CEO roll at Atalho.

Pete

Anonymous said...

That Atalho company seems not too impressive.

http://www.atalhoequip.com.br

But interesting they have an article about the Asus Eee PC (lowest priced laptop) and one about "false professionals".

Asus Eee PC is perhaps the cheapest laptop available often selling for under 300$.

That's only twice that of the Medison Celebrity ;-)

I've been following this thing since I went looking for a laptop about 1 year ago. I dont belive it will every come to anything, as by the time Valdi gets hold of obsolete hardware, none will want it. What really keeps me looking, is obviously the man has little cash, but is paying to keep the website (and myth) going - there has to be something at the end of all this. Cant wait for the finial installment...

I am just making a mental note of the fact that www.viviti.com is a free web-site..... I guess Valdi needs some money fast.

I am, in a way, sad that there is no new news about the laptop madness - still was fun while it lasted!

Crazy to now see that £150 laptops really now are almost a reality: http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/15/evidence-mounts-for-august-eee-pc-carnage-with-299-dell-e-launc/

Still... $150 would have been even better!

SOOOO WOUNDERFULL

I have red the Valdi blogg ... it is touching that he "only" wants to help people ... nothing else.

He also thanks this blog for marketing of a product that he doesn't have ... smart!

Note that hi has taken away the news that "The Medison labtop will be delivered during 2008"

Valdi is a victim of this very, very naughty Brazilien Company ... that his BIG Medison has made a Due Dilligence on ....

To bad that the Swedish psych-care has been downsized ... since I belive that they would have a ball with treating Valdi .... Yes Valdi, u are sick ... You try to make an imppression of the BIG Medison Company ...

Number 1: Medison is just a £1 company, well a postbox in the UK

Number 2: You have never to manage to make money.

Number 3. One person (except your cousin) is involved in this project.

Please get som help!

Sub $150 laptops ARE here...

http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/21/worlds-cheapest-laptop-may-just-be-the-worlds-cheapest-laptop/

OK a wholesale price of $130 means that not many people will sell it for that low, but still i could see these on ebay for $150 plus postage if someone thought they could shift enough.

I'd love to see one in the flesh and if there was a lower order figure i'd drop the cash for sure.

Still interesting that is is possible to make a PC of some kind for under $150 - but easy to see the spec is WELL below what Valdi ever thought he could provide.

Anonymous said...

If quality and performance mean nothing then you can always buy some V-Tech laptop toy computer for way under US$150 :-)

Bottom line is that there is nothing good in selling non-existent laptops to people who believe it's the real deal at a price that is absolutely unrealistic!

I don't care the good intent behind it if it's based on unprofessional judgement and lie after lie.

People have to understand that the laptop market is already a highly optimized market with slim margins and optimized logistics based on high quantities.

The idea of some inexperienced guy coming in with no money to beat the industry several factors under the current market pricing is so incredible ridiculous that any professional journalist should have guessed right away that this is nothing more than a stupid scam.

I deal with quite a few major electronics manufacturer and I can only laugh when imagining that some Valdi is sitting at a negotiating table trying to get the lowest pricing from vendors without a brand or any actual track record behind his negotiation.

Obviously it would be extremely unprofessional if vendors of computer parts gave better conditions to a Mr. Valdi and "his company" than to leading high volume brands like Acer or Dell.

United Keys has presented world's first PC keyboard with user programmable display keys. The 205PRO PC keyboard has small LCD displays embedded in the keytops of all twelve function keys which can be programmed by the user.

Is http://www.drivenwide.com/ (see Olivia's comment above) another one of Valdi's scams?

Anonymous said...

Valdi's blog:

http://valdi.viviti.com/

Anonymous said...

Yes, I think so.

The web site http://www.drivenwide.com shares very similar traits of having pages "under construction" or simply missing (e.g. Privacy page).

The concept of having keys with small displays sounds appealing at first but actually I never look at keys when I press them.

In fact my preference is a keyboard that works as an invisible extension of my hands.

But who knows...maybe some people would appreciate it. It has some coolness factor at least.

he's fun to read about though, like the Britney Spears of the IT world.

Valdi has updated his blog - "...we believe that all children world wide wil have these laptops soon....I guess we all want what is best for the children." LOL.

Valdi's original web site www.medison.se is finally closed.

Medison is just one of many examples of how easy it is to fool the majority of people.

Medison Celebrity retailing at US$150 was to begin with as unrealistic as Noah's Ark :-)

Anonymous said...

That Valdi blog is really fun :-D

Does anyone know who is the guy that wrote all the articles there?

Anonymous said...

is it really all ready a year since the last news on this... ho hum, kept me amused for a good while!

Interesting to see this now though: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=228796&source=1

Which is a british £100 laptop (well netbook) so around $150 and this:

http://www.livemint.com/2009/01/29144421/Computers-at-10-to-be-availab.html

Indias $10 laptop... hum.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if this is already known but check out this site:

http://www.wix.com/valdiivancic/medisonindex

LOL...created through some wix.com quick and dirty Action Script authoring tool.

I've bought 3 laptops (Apple, HP and Asus) privately since Valdi came up with the Medison Celebrity. I bought the Asus Aspire One to keep in my car. It was only US$ 350. Recently you can get these Intel Atom based "netbooks" even cheaper (some times less than US$300) and they are really great value for the price. Connect it to your 3G phone and you have a great mobile PC!
