Investigating Medison's past

As you might know you find a quite much "brag" about Medison's past and current business on their site. One of their triumph cards that they tell to people that doubt them is that they have been in business since 1996 and have had a successful past. On their site they even put it like this:

"Today we are operating in Europe, USA and Brazil. Our company has reached not only a brand name, but also a name that stands for quality and science. We want to continue working with this business policy and we intend to come up with new revolutionizing products and ideas. We have the experience, the knowledge and the right people for it. We hope the next 10 years will prove our concept is unique and successful."

I decided to do a background check on their history and see what comes out as true or not.
Let's start with Medison Data AB, the company that started it all. What I can find out from public records and annual reports it really wasn't any big business at all. In the annual reports you can find criticism from the authorized accountant that the company didn't pay taxes and fees in right time or at all. The company went bankrupt in the start of year 2001.

Another company that is mentioned is Givi Sweden AB. The company was created by Valdi, but it seems like there never was any business in the company at all. It seems like that the company was winded up before any annual report was handed in to the authorities, because no information can be found form official sources between the creation and wind-up of the company.

The last company I can find any information in Sweden related to Medison/Valdi is Intelligentia International AB. Like the other companies no money was ever made and the company winded up without any economical assets. The last activity in the company seems to have been in 2001 or 2002 sometime. It it's last years the company got really hard criticism from the authorized accountant because that they couldn't provide any documentation on income and expenses, that taxes and fees wasn't paid in the right time or at all and that money was missing. He even stated that the company was obligated to do a forced liquidation because of several failed equity issuance's.

After 2002 everything seems blank in Sweden at least, which seems to be correct since Valdi, the CEO of these companies moved to Brazil. After that there is several references from Medison/Valdi to different companies in other countries, but I can't find any real information on these projects. However they don't seem to have any direct relation to any company bearing the Medison-name, and it seems to be very unclear what's done in Valdis name and in the name of Medison.

My conclusion to this is that Medison was started in 1996, but has not been in business since then, and none of the companies or projects I have been able to look up has been successfully at all. Rather the other way around.

Please note that my knowledge in business English isn't the best, so please ask in the comments if anything is unclear or if I need to do any corrections!

The real question is, why does he keep doing it.

Definition of a mad man is doing the same over and over and expecting different results.

Looks like he still believes, after all those failures, that if only his site bragged some more, and he imagined a better imaginary product, he'll have success.

"We have the experience, the knowledge and the right people for it."

But you know: it's just slogan for him to put on his site. It doesn't mean a damn thing.

Just like those:

"The road to success is through hard work and by going step-by-
step"

"We have experience and a global network"

FROM SWEDEN TO BRAZIL...

... AND FROM BRAZIL TO CALIFORNIA.

I have asked for an offer for advertising on their site. A person called Per S with the title of "Sales Manager Europe" got back to me promtly. I got an offer to try one month for $15000. I asked why there were not any other advertisers on the page and got the reply that others where already signed, but they wanted to launch all advertisers at the same time.

We will see what happens, i have replied that i am interested, but first i need to know that the computers are getting delivered before i stake my companies reputation on advertising on a site that scams people!.

I don't think it is a Scam in the way that Valdi has the intention to lure people. You don't have to be a Psychology major to understand that Valdi is sick. He probably has a bi-polar disorder. When he is in the manic phase, he belives he will be the next Bill Gates ...

So basically he keeps lying.

Imagine he has 10 possible banner spots, and he signed up contracts with 8 other advertisers. You're the 9-th.

Now those 8 and you, will have to wait that 10-th advertiser appears, so you can see your banner on the site. If the 10-th advertiser appears 2 months from now, your campaign will just rot on their computer in disabled state for two months, together with the banner campaigns of the people who contracted Medison before you.

Does it make sense? Nope.

"He probably has a bi-polar disorder. When he is in the manic phase, he belives he will be the next Bill Gates"

Damn :( I think I can be the next Bill Gates sometimes.

Or at least the next IBM owner.

Or Sony.

I'll settle for Virgin... Wait, that came out wrong.

Keep in mind Valdi most likely follows this blog, now your cover is blown.

You're probably the only "advertiser" that contacted them anyway.

Looking at his past business activity from the main article I'm commenting on, I think he'll find it sufficient if you just let him play along and exchange some imaginary money with him.

I just got a replay from Per (the Sales Manager Europe) where he stated that they have had six million hits on their site during the last month and that there is no sign that it is going down. He also says that "if you are concerned about the media coverage of Medison you can wait until next week when we will start delivering computers."

I don't care if Per or Valdi reads this blog. If they start delivering computers next week (which i think is highly unlikely), I am interested in buying advertising on their site.

I don't know what to laugh at. The claims, or the way he expressed them.

... now I know what you're trying to do, but from his public stats it's already apparent he has only few hundred thousands hits each month.

I can't believe they lie again about the same thing, after retracting similar statements *twice* already.

Don't have time to check right now, but 6 million hits over the whole site can be correct. But who cares about HITS anyway, it's all about (unique) visitors.

Oh hits.. :P damn it was me, I'm sorry. I made those 6 million hits.

Just a bit obsessive compulsive, dunno why I expect the next refresh the site will be down, but it's still not.

So what do u think?

Medison's Sales Manager says that they will start delivering computers next week ... it is only one working day until next week ...

Is it possible????

Keep in mind the date is 31-st. Which is Friday next week, still next week, it's not one work day from delivery.

Also what do you expect asking question like that - the only one who knows at 100% is Valdi and his employees.

I believe that at best he'll deliver few dozens of laptops and bankrupt.

But more likely he'll just ship his sample unit or ship nothing.

"it's not one work day from delivery."

Hardly...shipping something from asia to Europe takes a week. If they really had shipped something, a sane company would send the shipping tracking number to their customer.

And so far Valdi has reallys dazzled us with his display of remarkable sanity?

one week till next delivery :O

"And so far Valdi has reallys dazzled us with his display of remarkable sanity?"

I've been looking for the plot twist in this movie for too long, so now I'll make up one myself: We are the insane ones, he's the normal one.

If 'marketer' is telling the truth, it means Valdi and co. is waiting for advertisers and this explains the delays.

They're hoping to hit a contract with an advertiser so they can buy the laptops with that money.

If they don't hit a deal that won't ship anything.

If this is it, they may attempt to delay things further before giving up.

"They're hoping to hit a contract with an advertiser so they can buy the laptops with that money."

The cost of advertising on internet sites is now well established in the advertising industry.

The number of unique visitors on the medison site is not enough to return ad revenues that would pay for laptops, much less thousands of laptops.

Advertisers are not stupid. They will not be paying in advance for advertising.

Hey people, don't confuse "shipped" with "delivered". That's two different things.

Anonymous said...

"Advertisers are not stupid. They will not be paying in advance for advertising."

I never said above that it's the advertisers who are stupid.

After all, that's why there are still no real ads on the medison celebrity site.

Did you check Medison's ad rates? 2 million dollars (!) for a banner that appears "worldwide".

Interesting how people are still trying to interpret what is happening in terms of rational behaviour.

Ronald, you honestly think that was a description of rational behavior?
