medisoncelebrity.com updated (Updated: not)

Update: Seems like I was too quick this time, I looked at the contact page and not the support page. Might not be any updates at all as usual then ;)

------

medisoncelebrity.com is updated. No big changes, one thing I have noticed is that it now says "The phone lines are temporarly closed" instead of the stuff about the "last 24 hours" that was there before. I wonder how long time something like that can be concidered to be temporary?

Another thing that has changed is that they have removed the e-mail address to infocare, their Swedish service provider. My guess is that this either means that Infocare finnaly has canceled the (non existing) contract all together, or that Infocare simply has asked them to remove the address until any computers actually arrives to be serviced. I have tried to contact the responisble person at Infocare but not been able to get any reply yet, but I will of course post here when I have any updates!

Tommy, thank you for your work on this blog!

Do you have other blogs and articles (in English) we may check out?

Anonymous said...

I mean not Medison, but in general.

Nope, this is actually my first blog or site of this kind. I have been involved in investigating previous big computer scams here in sweden before, but that has been anonymous posting on Swedish forums and so on.

tommy, maybe you're wrong about the support links.

in the support page, it still says (like always):

"Due to the unexpectedly high traffic to our support line past 24 hours it broke down. We want to inform you that we are currently working hard on getting a phone line back on air."

and in the contact page, it says (again as always):

"The phone lines are temporarly closed"

.. but the site seems down intermittently, maybe they are tweaking it as we speak (it's not cache/proxy on my side)?

hmm yea and in the support page it still lists infocare:

"Call Center:
E-mail: kc@infocare.se
E-mail (other matters): info@medisoncelebrity.com"

How many days it's been now that the support page says "unexpected high interest last 24 hours"?

Nearly month... Geebus.

It sure gets dull when Valdi slips back into obscurity.

Sure would be a great time for another press conference!

Tommy, keep up the good work! I was like you very quick in realizing this was a total bogus deal when first finding a description on this "Medison Celebrity" thing on C-NET.

But what motivates 2CO in still taking orders and being part of this so incredibly obvious scam, helping Valdi fool people in this way?

Who is responsible at 2CO for keeping this going? I would believe someone Ms. Neva Johnson at 2CO is responsible.

Tommy, perhaps you should give her a call and ask what's going on?
The number is: +1 (614) 921 2449.

Perhaps it can wake them up actually. 2CO might be an ok company afterall.

To wake them up, they must be sleeping.

They're not: it's intentional, they either want to make a statement, or their ToS doesn't allow them to cancel... although I'll shoot myself if it's the latter.

2CO is certainly aware of what is going on, see:
http://www.2checkout.com/community/support/topic.php?id=214&page=4

2CO Staff member 'kristin' wrote: "I'll leave everyone to form their own opinions about the amount of time and energy committed to date to investigating what will essentially self-resolve."

I suppose that indeed they intentionally wait till the issue will resolve itself. They take no chances, any move on their part may result in claims that it was 2CO's doing that caused Medison's plans to fail.

2checkout very recently posted to their own web forum that NO LAPTOPS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED.

A question have also been posted to the 2checkout support forum asking for confirmation if the "scandinavian" shipment emails are valid or fake.

Anonymous said...

that reply from 2checkout was 21 hours ago...
the e-mails arrived 5 hours ago...

So the secret Asia factory ships laptops on a Saturday afternoon.

I look forward to 2checkouts reply and even more to the day of delivery.

Or perhaps the secret Brazil assembly plant shipped laptops at midnight.

By the way, it takes 19 days for a boat from Brazil to Scandinavia.

"By the way, it takes 19 days for a boat from Brazil to Scandinavia."

The email says the shipment method is Scandinavia, which makes it look forged.

Also don't forget that Medison uses UPS, which usually ship by air.

"don't forget that Medison uses UPS, which usually ship by air."

It is true that UPS ships by air, but UPS also provides real end-to-end tracking numbers.

"It is true that UPS ships by air, but UPS also provides real end-to-end tracking numbers."

Right, but this is too much work. They got 300 000 orders, that means sending 300 000 emails with the triple-checked tracking number and details.

I mean, they haven't updated their site for a month, it still says "unexpected high interest 24 hours".

Maybe their Internet connection is very very slow?

Not to mention how burdensome it would be if they actually had to ship a computer to each customer, not just mail them.

thanks for explaining the joke
