Medisons real traffic

So, yesterday in jnytts article Valdi said that Medison received 1.5 million unique visitors each day. Today we can present the real numbers, trough the hosting company's own tools:
http://medisoncelebrity.com/webalizer/
http://medison.se/webalizer/

Let me put it like this: So far in august, medisoncelebrity.com has received about 70 000 hits...

Update: There is already a mirror of the webalizers available at http://dump.plux.se/ if the statistics would be removed. And thanks plux for providing all the links and mirror.

Update 2: A reader made us aware of the fact that the page thanks.html that you should be redirected to when you have finished the order process only has received about 3500 hits. That doesn't look like any 300 000 orders to me...

Update 3: Jnytt has published an article about that the numbers from Valdi and the ones from the Webalizer doesn't add up. They have tried to contact Valdi for a comment but has not been able to get in contact with him. http://jnytt.se/Read__9770.aspx

if u add the visits on medison.se and count the total amount u get only 370 000... thats pretty far from the 1.5 million he claims

if u watch the stats on july for the page "thanks.html" which should come up once u order the computer... ull see that for July this page had 2553 visits and for august 933 hits... thats about 3500 orders... not 300 000

Check out the website he was preparing some months ago: http://medisoncelebrity.com/a4desk.swf

Great digging! The "million hits" is another lie from Valdi and if he lies about this... what else does he lie about?

buts that 3500 hits is entry hits, if you have used weblizer you know that that means that it is the page first visited by a webclient, that doesn't mean that they have recived that many orders, it could be lot less and a lot more, you can't tell.

English translation of Jnytt article at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/medisoncelebrity/message/106

@Bengt Brodin

There you are wrong.
Webalizer analyzes _ALL_ kind of hits to a page, if it's the entry page or not. it uses this to decide which page a visitor is the last page displayed when he stops using the site.

So. No, that is so many hit's they have on that specifik page. I have even set up my own webalizer just to see how it generats the stats.

bengt, I think the technical reason thanks.html page shows up as a entry page is because the order process is done by 2checkout and then they redirect back to thanks.html with an empty referrer
do you agree this is a plausible explanation?

@myself
Forgot, when you are redirected from 2co that _IS_ counted as an entry hit.

Anonymous said...

yes, that seems plausible, and that actually means that there is less buys then hits, since i and probably a few more have visited that page as an entry page.

On Valdi's blog:

"July 28, 2007

I have a request to those individuals who are digging for addresses, phone numbers and other information to relatives of the 5 members of Medison. In several communities people are told by these individuals to go and seek for these addresses or make the phone calls to innocent people who don't know more than anyone else outside Medison. They just happen to be relatives and have nothing to do with the company, nor can they hurry up a shipment of a laptop to our costumers. So please, let our relatives in peace."

He didn't deny the whole interview, but said he must have been misqouted on the statisticts..

"He didn't deny the whole interview, but said he must have been misqouted on the statisticts.."

He has been misquoted on two orders of magnitude on his sales too, huh.

He must be the unluckiest guy in the world, always being misquoted, misinformed and misunderstood all the time.

It's possible that he was misinterpreted this time as well. What he meant to say was "It is true. It's all a fake", but the journalist misinterpreted it as a joke.

Great that a guy, who is even too stupid to lie without beeing caught, really wants to be a prime minister:

I don't want to know how much he will be misquoted than. ;)

What he said about this in the PC för alla article was:

Valdi
-I must have meant hits. You can see in the statistics that we've had about 1,2 million hits. I can't remember speaking about unique visitors.

PC för alla:
- But in the article where you are qouted you say that you've had 1,5 million unique visitors each day. And that you've had more than 10 million in a week.

Valdi:
- What? I've said no such thing. And i haven't mentioned any weekly statistics at all.

PC för alla:
- So you say you've been misqouted

Valdi:
- Yes I have.

But Anyone have received this laptop yet???

The Hits vs unique visitors issue aside, I’m sure all of you, realize that if you are a corporation and buy 10 or more computers, you will get the thanks page only once.
So even if 3000 hits on the thanks page mean 3.000 orders, it doesn't mean 3.000 sold computers only.
And that's exactly what the interview states: "the company has sold more than 300,000 computers, most of them to corporations that are buying large quantities."

"But Anyone have received this laptop yet???"

No. He said August 15 is first shipment, but with the shipment processing company denying signed contracts (or possible partnership) this may be a reason for further delays.

Those who paid for what was an obvious lie from day 1, get what they paid for (nothing).

2CO will however possibly return their movie after some time (in a way, too bad there's always someone to protect stupid people and their money).

movie = money up there (sry)

Big corporations don't buy large quantities of machines from dubious companies.

And when they do, they don't just go and order 1000 laptops with their credit card online.

If any companies wanted large shipment of stock, they most likely went there to negotiate the deal, support terms and special preferences as clients who do big business with them.

Since he can't offer such guys anything serious, I can estimate he's left with the online orders, where most people online bought one or two laptops via their credit cards.

Pulling this from my behind, but experience tells me the purchase ratio is around ~1.2 units per order. Which means no more than 4000 orders in total.

A far cry from the 300 000 orders he's talking about.
